Ice Followed by Wine

Day 2 in McCarthy-Kennicott, we embarked in an all day glacier hike with our guide Taylor. 7 hrs. traversing the glacier, viewing Donoho Falls and exploring ice caves. Taylor told us he had never covered so much ground on a day hike (a compliment to us) and that we should consider backpacking next time. We are apparently also the first day hikers to go in the ice caves this season (and the season ends next week). Pretty cool to experience the glacier from both above and below. The scenery was spectacular start to finish. We ended the day at the saloon where I polished off about 2/3rds of a bottle of wine and walked home w/the remainder. Accompanied by a friendly Boston Terrier named Tank.
